Farm Visit

Ever since we moved to the island Colin has been asking me to milk a cow. We have a farm behind us, but I rarely see the farmer milk the cows in the field, I think he keeps the milk cows back up under the trees. When I saw that our Outdoor Recreation was offering a farm visit tour I knew I had to sign us up. It was so much fun and so interesting! The family runs a traditional Terceira style farm that is verified a historical site by the government. They have restored a portion of their old farmhouse to look like it would have back in the early days on the island. They dress in traditional dress and share all kinds of interesting cultural and historical facts about their farm. It is immaculate and very well kept, they are very proud of their heritage and farm.

Grandma and Grandpa come to visit!

End of June Shelby's parents arrived for a visit. Usually when they come to visit we drag them all over the place and travel. Due to the lack of things to see and do on this island and the size this was going to be a different kind of vacation for them. We managed to entertain them and show them most of what the island has to offer, but there was still a lot of down time in between. They took Colin to the playground often and got to relax a little bit while visiting us. Some of the things we did do are in the pictures. Not the most exciting trip to visit us, but now they can say they've been to this tiny island in the Azores!
