One more thing...

I forgot to add this to the Easter post, so in case you have any Easter candy left, Colin has some advice...

Three Months Old

Where does the time go? Caleb weighs in at 14.5 pounds and has just moved to size 2 diapers and still wears size 3 month clothing, but not for long! He loves his kick gym, talking to anyone who will talk back, sucking on his fingers and blowing spit bubbles. He is such a cutie!

Easter 2014

One neat thing about this island is that lots of things are still handmade. When I realized I was going to need an Easter basket for Caleb I went to "The Basket Man" and showed him Colin's Easter basket and told him I wanted him to make me one just like it. He took some measurements and gave me a price and told me to come back in two weeks. Here are the two baskets I had him make, how awesome is it that Caleb's Easter basket will last forever (these things are sturdy!) and will always be a reminder of his brief little time on this island?

After the kids went to bed I got the baskets all ready. We don't do a lot of candy in our house so the kids each get a toy, a book and a few pieces of candy from the Easter Bunny.

Here is Colin diving into his basket and checking everything out.

He was mighty impressed with the chicken that "farted" gumball eggs. You will see in the video!

After feeding Caleb it was time to go outside and hunt eggs!

Cooper helped of course.

We finished off the afternoon with dinner at our friends' house. The weather cooperated and it was a very happy Easter.

Here is the video of Colin and Caleb with their Easter baskets:

Easter Egg Hunt

We took Colin and his friend Gavin to the base Easter egg hunt. They were ready and excited!

We told Colin instead of running and grabbing the first eggs he saw to run all the way across the field to the far end to start collecting eggs. Usually the kids all stop at the first eggs they see and end up getting trampled and stepped on. This strategy proved to work well for Colin and he gathered up a bunch of eggs without anyone around.

In about 30 seconds after the kids were released the entire field was cleaned up, one of the event staff made the comment about it taking an hour to put all those eggs out there and 30 seconds for them to be picked up. LOL Truth! It was nice Colin had lots of eggs though because the event staff started the hunt about 10 minutes earlier than the advertised time and many kids were just getting out of their cars when the hunt started and the poor kiddos didn't even have a chance to grab an egg. Colin saw a few of his friends after the hunt was over and they didn't get any eggs, because they missed the start, and he was happy to share some of his eggs with them. He can be sweet when he wants to be!

Coloring eggs

This year we went to our friends the Worley's house to dye eggs. Colin was very in to dying the eggs and took his time coloring each one. The kids had fun and seemed to have as much color on their hands as they did on the eggs. Colin made the Harsch family traditional black/camo egg and was very proud of it. Here are the pictures of the kids making a mess.

Colin's Artwork

Colin loves his Dad, can you tell?
To Dad, me and dad, and more pictures of Colin and Daddy. Total Daddy's boy that kid.
But every now and then he draws a picture for the family.
Notice the frown on Caleb, I guess Colin thinks he cries a lot. That might be accurate!
On the rarest of occasions Colin colors me a picture too. I think he was saving up all his artistic ability for mine. <3 p="">

Avengers!

Our base Outdoor Rec outdid themselves this time. They put on an Avengers show full of super heroes and Colin loved it. The kids went up in small groups for SWAT training to help fight the aliens and defend the Tesseract.

Of course the kids were not able to do this on their own and needed a little super power help. Here the super heroes make their entrance:

Then the kids and super heroes defeat the aliens:

And finally the kids get a little super hero skill training:

Colin's Ant Farm

Colin got an ant farm for Christmas. We didn't put ants in it right away because we knew we'd be gone to Germany for Caleb's birth and since coming back to the island we haven't seen any ants. The weather is slightly warmer these days (still by no means what I would call spring for Terceira!) and the other day we came home and parked the jeep next to the sidewalk and saw this...

Right away Colin thought to get his ant farm. We got the ant farm and scooped up some ants and soon they were tunneling away and it looked like this...

Then all of a sudden they really got busy and tunneled even more. I love watching them and checking in to see how much progress they have made since the last time I looked. Colin loves watching them too and too the ant farm in to school for his share day. Here is a video of the ants hard at work:

Who wore it better?

A while ago when I had given up hope of having more babies I gave away all of Colin's baby things that I had saved for future kids. Aside from Gator things I didn't keep any clothing. So when my old next door neighbor in Germany, Nicole, gave me some baby clothes, including some of Colin's things I had given to her years ago, I was so excited. The outfit Caleb is wearing was cute by not one of my favorite things Colin owned. Now it is one of my favorite things belonging to Caleb because it is one of the only things Caleb will get to wear that his older brother also wore. And, my brother's son Austin even had a shirt just like it too, I guess it's a family thing.
