Little Bit O Culture

After about 8 months of waiting on a transmission to ship from the States and be installed, the Jeep is finally home and running again. Shelby spent two days cleaning it up and getting it ready, so today we took it out for a ride to go up to the top of the volcano. The weather here on our side of the island was cloudy with a slight mist, but the weather on the other side of the island was windy, rainy and awful! We got to the top of the volcano but couldn't see anything so we drove back down and took the scenic route home. On the way back we passed a field with a very young calf and I had to take a picture of the sweet baby. 

He was in a field full of calves that were all fairly young.

Then we got stuck in a traffic jam as a parade of people exited a church from mass. Today is the last weekend of the Holy Spirit Festival here on the island, so the people will walk together from the church to the Spirit House.

They carry a special flag for the celebration as well as special staffs and crowns. A marching band follows and plays music all the way.

We were amused that while we were taking pictures of their event as we drove passed people standing outside were pulling out cell phones and cameras to take pictures of our Jeep. LOL

We volunteered to help with childcare at a single parent's retreat sponsored by the church this weekend. We have stayed at the hotel before, which has beautiful views, but the weather was gross that time and my pictures were also gross. This morning we got some much needed sunshine!

This afternoon as we headed home we passed the spirit house in Santa Rita (the hill we live on) and it was all decorated for the Holy Spirit Festival which was this weekend.

First T-Ball Game

First T-Ball Game

Colin had his first T-ball game today. It actually went a lot smoother than I thought. While a few kids did hit the ball and take off running with the bat, not a single one ran the wrong direction. Colin did really well and enjoyed batting and his time in the infield. He wasn't so much a fan of rotating to the outfield to give other kids a chance to see some action. He built sandcastles out there with his buddies. Overall it was pretty fun and entertaining.

Sorry, I have to say something about this last one. Colin begged me to take it. He got new PJs and I bought them big so he can sleep in them at least a week before he grows out of them. He thought it was hilarious that he had them hiked up like this and DEMANDED I take a picture of him. Then he insisted we send it to grandma and grandpa, grandma with two dogs, Cousin Charlotte and Cousin Dawson. He said "they will laugh so hard because it's so funny." Kid has quite the sense of humor, lol!
