Hurricane Colin

Just another Sunday morning at our house. The room was clean when he started, it didn't take long for him to trash the room. He started off building at the tool bench and playing with his tools. Then he played with cars for a while and after that he decided he wanted something from the toy box. I have no idea what it was, but apparently it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down in there. He got IN the box and threw every toy out one by one.

He was pretty good about helping pick it all up when he was done though. Especially since I told him we needed to vacuum the floors and he could do it, he loves to vacuum!

Thaaaaaat's Elmooooooo's Sooooooooong!

I made the mistake of putting some "Colin Music" on my mp3 player for car rides. I got a Sesame Street collection with some Elmo and Cookie Monster songs he would know and also this song called Sticks and Stones from the How to Train Your Dragon movie, one of his alltime favorites.

It is not a typical kid movie type song, so I am surprised he loves it so much...but he does. He begs for it over and over and over in the car.

Today on our car ride it was all about Elmo. I no more started the engine when he asked for it, and the second he finished belting out the last note he demanded I start it again. Today I totally regret choosing to live so far away from the damn base. I also totally regret putting kid music on my mp3 player. My car rides were so much more enjoyable when he didn't know there was anything better than "Mommy music" out there. He was singing his little heart out today and I couldn't help but laugh. I also couldn't help but record it. As cute as it sounds now, just imagine it on repeat for 30 solid minutes. Any idea just how many times you can listen to Elmo's Song during a 30 minute car ride? 17 to be exact.

Yep, he's totally picking his nose while singing in the last video...sigh.

Privacy Please!

I was getting ready to take Colin for a haircut and to run some errands and he wandered upstairs to see what I was doing. I wasn't exciting enough for him so he went into his room to play. When I was done getting ready I went to his room to get him dressed and found him like this...

He had pulled out the bins in his toy shelf and turned it into a port-o-potty. He was in there happily hiding and pooping. As you can see, he was slightly perturbed at my snapping pics of him and interrupting his business.

I was finally able to coax a smile out of him in the end...

The Fun Never Stops...

I had arranged for a sitter to come and watch Colin while I went to a friend's birthday lunch. I had gone upstairs to get myself dressed and ready while Colin played downstairs with his dinosaurs and watched a movie. Or so I thought that's what he was doing. I am half dressed when I hear a crash, followed by crying and I race downstairs to see what he's done. This is what I found...

Well actually, he was underneath the cage a bit more than in this photo, but after making sure that both he and the rabbit were ok I told him to stay there and ran to grab my camera. He didn't stay exactly where he was, but you get the idea.

He was pretty shaken up, I think it scared him. Well I hope it scared him anyway, so badly that he doesn't try to get the cage down again. Then the cage fell off the chair and what little bit of mess that had managed to stay inside the cage was now on the floor with the rest of the cage contents. The rabbit was just fine through all this.

Care Package

Colin got another care package from Daddy yesterday. He was very excited to see a new Dinosaur Train video and "Buddy" the dinosaur inside. He has Boris, the large T-Rex in the background, that he got for Christmas. Boris roars and talks and says all kinds of things and Colin loves him.

The Dinosaur Train character dinosaurs are all interactive, so when they get near one another they start talking to each other. Colin thought it was pretty interesting that Buddy and Boris were talking and roaring to one another. Colin carried Boris to bed with and even tried to give him a bath, thank goodness I caught that one before he got all wet and ruined! I think he likes his presents.

Conversations with Colin

I wish I could remember more, he's been cracking me up recently. Here is what he said Friday afternoon in the car. We had just went through the base gate and the car in the lane next ot us sped off ahead of me going way too fast. So Colin says "hey car, no! Slow Down Car! Get back here RIGHT NOW!" About this time the other car slows down and i am going faster so we caught up to the car. Colin is all happy and pleased and says "thank you car. Good job car!" I busted out laughing out loud, and he couldnt figure out why. He was annoyed I was laughing at him, I just told him he was funny.

Zoo day

Kaiserslautern Zoo

The weather has been warming up and getting very nice here. We've been inching into the 50's during the day and had a lot of sunshine lately, it's been great. Colin and I went to the little zoo in Kaiserslautern to spend some time enjoing the weather and to run around. He had a great time feeding the animals and watching them. He still loves birds, he spent a lot of time in the aviary and even took me back in there for a second bird watching trip. He was very interested in the chickens, because some of them were out of the fenced area so he could get up close to them. One chicken decided he'd had enough of Colin trying to pet him and being so close and so he stopped his feet in a little dance sort of thing and then charged towards Colin. Colin was so stunned he almost fell backwards trying to get away from the chicken and he came running to me and hid behind my leg. He was afraid of the chickens after that, it was hysterical. "Bad chicken" he would say. He only fed the ones behind the wire fence from then on!
